ABOUT ME

My name is Sohum Kanabar, and I am passionate about basketball and about helping others in need. I have been playing basketball since I was in elementary school, and I started on the Freshman A team at Carroll High School, and I have played for the JV team for 10th and 11th grade. I also play for an AAU team called DFW Dawgs.  I have decided to combine my passion for basketball and my passion to help others who are less fortunate to raise money and awareness for children in need in Tanzania. My dad grew up there, and all of my grandparents are from East Africa.

I moved to Southlake Carroll in 2022 from a private school in North Dallas.  I grew up playing many sports, including soccer, swimming, Tae Kwon Do, and football.  I have been playing the piano since I was five-years-old as well. I am a member of the Hope Squad, SASO, Key Club, and an officer of the Southlake Foundation at CHS and enjoy participating in community service activities, especially Special Olympics/Miracle League. Basketball is one of the largest aspects of my life, and I know how competitive the game can be. I also value the life skills that playing the sport has taught me. I hope that I can help younger/aspiring athletes improve their game and motivate them to follow their goals in the game of basketball and life.
